Layoff to many has been traumatic and has caught them unprepared, psychologically and financially. Some have been with their jobs for many years, gotten stuck in their comfort zone, and have not caught up with the job market. They are not job market-readiness and are lost. Many do not know how to present themselves effectively and confidently, even when suitable opportunities open up.
We provided job-seekers advice to help them navigate and retrospect their values and their transferrable skills, cataloged their strengths, and reminded them of their past accomplishment, achievement, and experience that they were proud of.
We shared the job-market update, expectations, and competitions with them and how they could reinvent themselves to meet the market needs. We then supported them to rework their resumes to bring out their strengths and achievements relevant to the job openings.
We repositioned their interview presentation approaches such as staying natural and being themselves, using up-to-date and new buzzwords, using the proper dress code, etc. We also reminded them of the appropriate presentation approach in front of video calls.
This helped regain their confidence, brought them back on track, and helped them move forward.
